Sonoma County, California, the number of homes lost to wildfire is staggering. As of October 2017, the Tubbs Fire alone has destroyed 5,636 structures, while the Nuns Fire has consumed 1,355 structures. In total, over 7,000 homes have been destroyed by fire in Sonoma County since the beginning of the year. This is an unprecedented loss of property and life. The total number of homes destroyed statewide is 11,386. Of the homes lost in Sonoma County, 2,834 were in Santa Rosa, 1,509 were in unincorporated areas, and 1,365 were in other cities. The Pocket Fire destroyed 842 homes.
